Summary: In gleicher Aufmachung (kompaktes Backsteinformat) wie die vorzügliche biographische Sammlung "Photographie des 20. Jahrhunderts Museum Ludwig Köln" (BA 9/96) präsentiert Taschen hier eine umfängliche, sehr bilddominante Darstellung der Geschichte des männlichen Aktfotos. Der Bogen geht von deren Anfängen, für die heutige Betrachtung oftmals ziemlich komisch, bis in die Gegenwart, in der nach 150jähriger Tabuisierung auch der nackte Mann zum wohlfeilen Hilfsmittel der Werbung und Reklame geworden ist. Ein 750 Seiten starker Spaziergang durch Kultur-, Moral- und Sexualitäts-Geschichte, amüsant, interessant und - wem der entblätterte Mann Anregung verschafft - auch durchaus pikant. In guten Sammelwerken zur Aktfotografie (das beste, "Das Aktfoto", Bucher 1985, ist zur Zeit leider vergriffen) sind freilich auch Männerakte jeweils vertreten, so konzentriert und ausschließlich wie hier hat sich allerdings noch keine Publikation um das Thema gekümmert. In öffentlichen Bibliotheken sicher eine Ermessensfrage, als Pendant zu den vielen Frauenakt-Bildbänden auf dem Markt aber durchaus denkbar. (2) (Klaus-Peter Preußger)
