Summary: In 30-jähriger Sammeltätigkeit hat das Ehepaar Ruppert eine einzigartige Sammlung Konkreter Kunst zusammengetragen, die nunmehr im Würzburger Kulturspiegel gezeigt wird. Der vorliegende Bestandskatalog kann durch seine wissenschaftlichen Beiträge als ein erstes Handbuch dieser Kunstrichtung gelten. Im Gegensatz zur herkömmlichen - Wirklichkeit abbildenden - Funktionen eines Bildes werden hier rational konstruierte Formen in farbigem Wechselspiel erprobt und dabei ihre emotionale Wikrung erforscht. Aktion und Reaktion von Fläche, Raum, Linie, Farbe, Licht und Bewegung liegen diesen Konzepten zu Grunde. Die Sammlung ist zugleich ein kulturhistorisches Dokument der letzten 60 Jahre. Obwohl ihr Schwerpunkt bei deutschen Künstlern der Nachkriegszeit liegt, sind auch die internationalen Referenzen bedeutsam. 168 Künstler werden dokumentiert und nahezu jedes Werk abgebildet. Die Wesenszüge der Konkreten Kunst werden erläutert und Randgebiete sowie neuere Entwicklungen gestreift. Mit Werkverzeichnis und Bibliographie. (2)
