Summary: Für die Leipziger Stadtgeschichte bedeutet das Jahr 1989 nicht nur die Auflösung der Parteidiktatur, sondern auch das Ende des urbanen Verfalls. Denn nach jahrzehntelanger Vernachlässigung waren die Hoffnungen auf einen stadtentwicklungspolitischen Neubeginn fast nirgendwo so groß wie hier. Der Niedergang der Industrie, Wohnungsleerstände und eine unkontrollierte Suburbanisierung – das einstige Zentrum von Musik, Kultur und Handel war während der DDR-Zeit zum urbanen Sorgenkind in einem fragmentierten Stadtkörper mutiert. Dass »Leipzsch« nun die am schnellsten wachsende Metropole Deutschlands ist, hat viel mit einem Gespür für urbane Qualitäten zu tun. Dieser Sinn zeigt sich u. a. in erfolgreichen Konversionen. Revitalisierte Industriebrachen, wiederentdeckte Kanäle, temporäre Installationen und künstlerische Interventionen prägen das Bild einer Stadt, die sich durch urbane Selbstheilungsversuche und unkonventionelle Planungsinstrumente nicht nur selbst gerettet hat, sondern zur Boomtown des Ostens geworden ist. In fünf Spaziergängen zeichnet die Sammlung von 120 urbanen Injektionen die Genesung eines Stadtkörpers nach, der mit seinen 1.000 Jahren zu den ältesten Städten zwischen Rhein und Oder gehört
