Zusammenfassung: | <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Optical and luminescence properties were studied in the Ce<jats:sup>3+</jats:sup> doped yttrium and lutetium aluminum garnets (YAG, LuAG) admixed by Gd<jats:sup>3+</jats:sup> and Ga<jats:sup>3+</jats:sup> ions. The single crystalline films were grown by liquid phase epitaxy. Energy transfer from Gd<jats:sup>3+</jats:sup> sensitizer to Ce<jats:sup>3+</jats:sup> activator ions was established. This energy transfer was observed in a broad range of Gd concentrations which may point to longer range interaction between Gd<jats:sup>3+</jats:sup> and Ce<jats:sup>3+</jats:sup> ions.</jats:p><jats:p><jats:boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor"><jats:graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mimetype="image/gif" position="anchor" specific-use="enlarged-web-image" xlink:href="graphic/mrrl0725605.gif"><jats:alt-text>magnified image</jats:alt-text></jats:graphic></jats:boxed-text></jats:p><jats:p>(© 2013 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
