Zusammenfassung: |
ABSTRACT Dartmouth Professor John Rassias has received substantial publicity from the national wire services for his classroom presentations in advanced level seminars in French literature. However, considerably less attention has focused on the lower level courses which Rassias has restructured according to an innovative blueprint: the intensive language model. From June to August 1978, the Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages at the University of Florida sought to implement this model in Beginning German. Student enthusiasm, good press, and a public relations campaign encouraged university administrators to fund the experiment beyond the initial stage. By adding scenarios tailored to student interests and needs, the Department hopes to maximize flexibility in the language learning process.
|
